Institute of Regional Development
The Institute monitors and researches regional development in Iceland. Its main function is to contribute to regional development through the implementation of government policy via the introduction of regional strategies. Its operations are aimed at strengthening settlements in rural areas through the support of viable, long-term projects with diverse economic bases.
Impra - Service Centre for Entrepreneurs and SMEs
Impra's role is to assist entrepreneurs in evaluating business ideas, provide counselling with start-up, growth, and management of companies, and be a link in the communication chain between individuals, companies and public agencies. We also advise small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) on how to improve their business productivity, encourage innovation and assist in export planning, for example, by facilitating cooperation in R&D and technology transfer with foreign businesses.
The New Business Venture Fund - NBVF
The New Business Venture Fund (NBVF) is fertile ground for good business ideas. The employees of the Fund have the same goals as the Icelandic pioneers they represent. They concentrate their ambition on realizing the ideas of those pioneers for the benefit of all Icelanders.
The Icelandic Software Fund
The Icelandic Software Fund is a leading Icelandic Venture Capital Firm listed on the Icelandic Stock Exchange. As the largest domestic institutional investor specialising in Information Technology, ISF's policy is to invest in Icelandic and international IT companies with a clear competence for attaining continental or global reach and to actively participate in the development of the Icelandic IT industry.
The Federation of Icelandic Industries (FII)
The Federation of Icelandic Industries (FII) is the main organization of Icelandic employers in manufacturing industries, crafts, software production and related services. Membership consists of close to fifteen hundred enterprises ranging from small family businesses to Iceland’s largest industrial companies.
SA-Confederation of Icelandic Employers
SA-Confederation of Icelandic Employers is a service organization for Icelandic businesses. SA projects include negotiations of collective agreements with unions on wages and working conditions, the advocation of an internationally competitive legal and regulatory environment, and the interpretation and communication of decisions by governmental authorities that directly affect the business environment.
Ministries of Industry and Commerce
The Ministries of Industry and Commerce in Iceland are, according to law, two ministries, under one Minister.
Invest in Iceland Agency
Invest in Iceland Agency is an independent agency of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The Agency is divided into two separate departments: General Investments and Energy Marketing.
