Seminar: A Better Life through Healthier Choices (Reykjavik, Iceland)

The challenges are daunting - Unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and overweight are growing problems in the entire Western world, including the Nordic countries. The trend poses both a threat to the individual’s quality of life and an economic threat to welfare.
Nordic Innovation Centre, in cooperation with the Icelandic Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Public Health Institute of Iceland, has the pleasure of inviting you to the seminar "A better life through healthier choices". Based on the Nordic Plan of Action on Health, Diet, and Physical Activity, and with financial support from the Nordic Council of Ministers, we invite you to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to meet with representatives from all five Nordic countries for interesting discussions on how the Nordic region can solve one of its most serious public health challenges of the 21st century.

Introduced by Health Minister of Iceland, Ögmundur Jónasson and chaired by Arne Hjeltnes, CEO of Creuna, this is a seminar you don't want to miss!
Keynote speakers such as Dr. Guðjón Magnússon, Professor of Public Health, School of Health and Education at Reykjavik University, Eirik Selmer-Olsen, CEO at TINE Research and Development (Norway's Dairy Cooperative's R&D organisation), Ragnheidur Hedinsdottir, Director of Food sector of Federation of Icelandic Industries, and writer, producer, entrepreneur, comedian, athlete, and Creator of Lazy Town, Magnus Scheving, will preface to several exciting and meaningfull debates.
The objective of the seminar:
To provide a platform with the opportunity to discuss how the Nordic region can ensure better health and quality of life through diet and physical activity on equal terms for all Nordic citizens.
Nordic Innovation Centre (NICe) has through the last fifteen years launched several programs within the food- and health sector. The three recent programs launched; Nordic Functional Food, New Nordic Food, and Healthier Choices, will be presented on stand.
Who should attend?
The seminar will bring together representatives from the Nordic sectors of agriculture, food and fish industry, catering, retailers, restaurant, and fast-food, governmental authorities of food, health and social affairs, research-, innovation-, and development institutions, and also private and public health organizations, etc.
