User Driven Innovation in the Health Care Sector - Final Conference

Research driven innovation and applied research has for decades been very common in life science. In the healthcare sector, the tradition for working systematically with innovation is much weaker, but new trends strongly indicate that user driven innovation requires increased attention especially by the public healthcare system, including hospitals.
On this background Nordic Innovation Centre is pleased to invite you to take part in the conference “User-driven Innovation in the Health Care Sector” which includes presentations of the main findings from two Nordic projects, interesting discussions during a propeller lunch, as well as pre- and post-conference crowdsourcing(*) events.
Date: 11 March 2010, 09:00-17:00.
Venue: Edvard Thomsens Vej 14, Ørestad, Denmark (near Copenhagen Airport)

Project 1: User driven innovation in the healthcare sector
This project between a Danish, a Swedish and a Norwegian hospital region had the dual aim to promote user driven innovation by applying Crowdsourcing (see below) for channelling suggestions and ideas primarily from employees but also from industry and the public, to provide input and collective decisions on innovation projects; to promote exchange of experience and to initiate a trans-Nordic innovation culture with collaboration on incremental as well as more radical innovation projects.
Project 2: User driven innovation for patients and healthcare professionals.
This project aimed at describing the current state and the logic of user driven innovation in the healthcare sector and also to explore different methods of user driven innovation through six pilot projects at hospitals in Norway (Trondheim), Denmark (Copenhagen) and Sweden (Lund).
Conference material: Two new reports and a leaflet presenting the main results from the two projects “Innovation4Care - User driven innovation in the health care sector” and “User driven innovation for patients and healthcare professionals” will be presented at the conference.
Target groups: Professionals and policy makers from the health care sector, innovation actors, industry (pharmaceuticals, medical technology), investors, and business and IPR consultants from the Nordic region.
Registration: To register for this conference, please send an e-mail with your complete contact details to:
Stina Gestrelius, stina@sigridscience.se. Last date of registration: Monday, 7 March 2010.
PLEASE NOTE! The conference language is English. The conference is free of charge, but failure to attend if registered will be invoiced DKK 500,-
(*)Crowdsourcing is a term coined by Jeff Howe in a June 2006 Wired magazine article. It is a term used to describe the use of a large number of people to perform a particular task. Today, Crowdsourcing is used to identify problems and ideas, generate solutions and evaluate them. The use of Crowdsourcing for innovation is a method to create participation and dynamically broaden the influx of information, knowledge and solutions.
