New study initiated - The role of standards and certification schemes in public procurement

As a part of the initiative "Nordic platforms for better trade in services", the Nordic Innovation Center (NICe) has commissioned a study on the role of standards and certification schemes in public procurement in relation to public procurement of services in the Nordic countries.
The purpose of the study is to achieve knowledge on the present and potential role of standards and certifications schemes in relation to public procurement. Part of this will relate to how Nordic cooperation may enhance efficiency in procurement processes and support a competitive service industry. A central element is to look into how the use and reference of standards and certification schemes in public procurement can stimulate cross-border trade in services. The study will concentrate specifically on Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Quality standards in relation to the construction and energy sectors.
The study involves all Nordic countries. The Danish consultancy firm DAMVAD is preparing the study. A reference group has been appointed and will provide advice to the work of DAMVAD. The members represent the Procurement Centre of the City of Helsinki, Standards Norway, Danish Industry, The Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency and The Icelandic Government Construction Contracting Agency.
