SILLQUID - Can a Microwave Quick Tool Predict Quality and Origin of Herring

There is a great need within the fish industry for quick tools to measure origin, fat content and general quality right after landing. In SILLQUID, the fast and non-destructive method MWspectroscopy, developed in two recent EU-projects, was tested for prediction of origin, compositional and quality parameters of a unique herring material collected and analyzed during NI-project 02106.

BASECOD - Stable and safe production of high quality cod larvae and juveniles

Stable supplies of high quality cod larvae and juveniles are urgently needed for the development of successful cod farming industries in countries around the North Atlantic. The project is a collaboration between key actors from the cod farming industry and the research sector in Iceland, Norway and the Faroe Islands, with involvement of additional key actors and stakeholders within the Nordic countries and Canada.

A common Nordic monitoring system on diet, physical activity and overweight

Nordic surveys on diet, physical activity, and overweight provide crucial information for the formulation of policies. The present project covers two parts – validation of indicator questions on diet and physical activity and establishment of a network on monitoring childhood growth.

It is, however, a paradox that despite the increasing consumption rates of unhealthy fast food, young people report trying to avoid eating unhealthy. This indicates a fast food market with untapped potential when it comes to offering healthier options.

Nordic Network NTP - Healthy choices

The project will integrate best available knowledge and experience from industry, innovation and research organisations, educators and health authorities to improve variety of attractive, healthy and tasty food choices for children and young people. Different sectors, providing food for children, will be encouraged to use innovative solutions to create positive attitude of children and young adults towards healthy food choices.
