The role of NICe is to facilitate and strengthen inter-Nordic policy initiatives in order to promote and enhance more effective policy-making in the Nordic countries.

Applying converging technologies for innovation in Nordic regions

The report investigates how policy makers can place technological convergence at the top of the agenda in (regional) innovation policies to enable more companies and research institutions to begin to address opportunities for innovation and growth generated through technological convergence. The study draws on a literature review and interviews with experts, companies, mediating organisations, and regional authorities. In addition, we have conducted a survey in the Nordic countries.

Regional trajectories to the knowledge economy - Nordic-European comparisons (REKENE)

The main objective of the REKENE project as well as the ‘mother project‘ EURODITE has been to investigate how knowledge is generated, developed and transferred within and among firms or organisations and their regional contexts in order to gain a better understanding of how policies may be developed and used to facilitate knowledge dynamics.

LUDINNO - Learning labs for User-Driven Innovation

LUDINNO is a hands-on user-driven innovation-project which has provided new concepts, ideas and knowledge for businesses, and a platform for a Nordic research cooperation in the field of merging design and user-driven innovation (UDI) processes. In the project students supported by academics and trained professionals cooperated with businesses to carry out real and user driven business projects.

Nordic Seed Capital Initiative II: Creating Nordic Success Stories

The venture capital market is an important engine for economic growth and the creation of new industries, companies and employment in the Nordic countries. Furthermore, it helps to attract international capital
to the region. This report contains general recommendations for the Nordic countries in addition to national recommendations regarding the promotion of the seed stage in each Nordic country. The main theme of the report is how to create Nordic success stories.

Nordic platforms for better trade in services

The Nordic Innovation Centre has taken the initiative to the project "Nordic platforms for better trade in services". The main objectives of the project are to contribute to well-functioning Nordic and European markets for services by ensuring “tradeable” services of high quality, to avoid fragmented service markets, to ensure SMEs involvement and promote innovations.

Innovation4Care - User driven innovation in the healthcare sector

Research driven innovation and applied research has for decades been very common in life science. In the healthcare sector, the tradition for working systematically with innovation is much weaker, but new trends strongly indicate that user driven innovation requires increased attention especially by the public healthcare system, including hospitals, for the following reasons: Patients have an increasing purchasing power and have become more active, knowledgeable and responsible for their own treatment, which leads to a demand of high quality and good service.

T2M Nordic

The hypothesis of this project is that it is possible to improve the capitalization of research based ideas and capturing of innovative ideas from employees through increased focus on the precubation phase of innovation. This project will explore, share and establish “thought leadership”, meaning best-practices, practical tools and creation of an arena for early-stage research commercialization and capturing of ideas.

Nordic Network of User-Driven Innovation and Livinglabbing

The emergence of user-driven innovation clearly shows that this near-exclusive focus on technological advance is misplaced. Nordic Living Labs can - as integral elements of the European Network of Living Labs create Nordic-scale experimentation platforms and pilot user groups for new services, business and technology and thus enhance new market and industry creation.
